There's something about a man astride his trusty stead, moving as though one across the plains. Or along mountain trails. It's enough to make a woman wish she could...ride.
Yes, a man with a Stetson and well worn Levi's that fit his form like a glove can conjure up a whole host of fantasies for a woman who likes a little romance in her life. We Discussion Divas agree. There is something sexy about a cowboy. When we did a search on romance novels about cowboys and ranchers, we were thrilled at the authors who have written about these wild men of the west: Linda Lael Miller, Susan Kay Law, Catherine Anderson, Sandra Brown, Sandra Hill, Diana Palmer, Julie Garwood, B.J. Daniels, Susan Mallery, Brenda Jackson, Nora Roberts, Marilyn Pappano, Rebbecca Wade, Kathleen Eagle...just to name a few! And the men they write about are definitely hero quality. Rugged, determined, kind, faithful, powerful, have great endurance, loyal. Yeah, there's sometime about a cowboy, baby.
So, ladies, who are your favorite cowboys? Who makes you think of long western nights and slow rides? Come one, you know you're thinking of someone now.

I love Catherine Anderson's cowboys, particularly the Coulter brothers series.
My very favorite western romance, however, is Penelope Williamson's Heart of the West. Zach Rafferty=one hot cowboy.

I'm not sure they would be cowboys...I guess they were more western men...but I looooooooooooooooove Julie Garwood's "brothers" in her For the Roses series.

Wow - I'm stumped! I would've sworn there's a cowboy hero in my reading past, but so far the only one who's come to mind is Sandra Hill's Cajun Cowboy. I remember he was drop dead gorgeous, and an ex-con. LOL!

I agree, Elizabeth, the "brothers" in JG's For the Roses are hot! Do Nora Roberts' "Kentucky Horsemen" count? I have a special place for them because I am from Kentucky.

My favorite cowboy is Johnanna Lindsey's Angel....following in 2nd place is Colt Thunder, also from JL in Savage Thunder.
Angel coincidentally was my first romance novel, therefore sealing a love for rugged cowboys into my heart forever I don't normally love JL's writing, but do so love these two characters.
